A General Framework for Pricing Credit Risk
نویسندگان
چکیده
A framework is provided for pricing derivatives on defaultable bonds and other credit-risky contingent claims. The framework is in the spirit of reducedform models, but extends these models to include the case that default can occur only at specific times, such as coupon payment dates. While the framework does not provide an efficient setting for obtaining results about structural models, it is sufficiently general to include most structural models, and thereby highlights the commonality between reduced-form and structural models. Within the general framework, multiple recovery conventions for contingent claims are considered: recovery of a fraction of par, recovery of a fraction of a no-default version of the same claim, and recovery of a fraction of the pre-default value of the claim. A stochastic-integral representation for credit-risky contingent claims is provided, and the integrand for the credit exposure part of this representation is identified. In the case of intensity-based reduced-form models, credit spread and creditrisky term structure are studied.

Pricing Financial Derivatives Subject to Counterparty Risk and Credit Value Adjustment
This article presents a generic model for pricing financial derivatives subject to counterparty credit risk. Both unilateral and bilateral types of credit risks are considered. Our study shows that credit risk should be modeled as American style options in most cases, which require a backward induction valuation. To correct a common mistake in the literature, we emphasize that the market value ...
متن کاملnetting rules and re-hypothecation
In this paper we describe how to include funding and margining costs into a risk-neutral pricing framework for counterparty credit risk. We consider realistic settings and we include in our models the common market practices suggested by the ISDA documentation without assuming restrictive constraints on margining procedures and close-out netting rules. In particular, we allow for asymmetric col...
متن کاملPricing Credit Risk Derivatives
In this paper the pricing of several credit risk derivatives is discussed in an intensity-based framework with both risk-free and defaultable interest rates stochastic and possibly correlated. Credit spread puts and exchange options serve as main examples. The differences to standard interest rate derivatives are analysed. Where possible closed-form solutions are given.
متن کاملCurrency dependence of corporate credit spreads
Many pricing and risk management models need credit spread curves as an input. Given the small number of bonds outstanding per issuer the estimation of credit spread curves is not trivial in the corporate bond market. To ensure a sufficient number of bonds for the estimation procedure in many cases bonds in different currencies have to be used which implies that the estimation procedure has to ...
متن کاملPricing Buy-ins and Buy-outs
Pension buy-ins and buy-outs have become an important aspect of managing pension risk in recent years. As a step toward understanding these pension de-risking instruments, we develop models for pricing investment risk and longevity risk embedded in pension buy-ins and buy-outs. We also bring a contingent-claims framework to price credit risk of buy-in bulk annuities. Overall, our model can be u...
